PRE-COURSE / INSTRUCTIONAL COURSES / LUNCH & LEARNS
The annual pre-course builds a knowledge base of sexual health concerns, including evaluation and management of common sexual health complaints. We review relevant anatomy, physiology and pharmacology. We also review management of menopause and its associated symptoms, including hormone therapy and local vaginal treatments. We will include our updated processes of care that summarizes in detail what steps should be taken when seeing women with sexual health concerns. This course is relevant for any participants new to the ISSWSH meeting and returning participants who want to refresh their knowledge with the most current evidence-based practice from the experts.
Instructional courses allow participants to gain practical knowledge of evaluation and management of particular sexual health concerns or of particular treatment methods. This year’s educational courses include difficult cases in menopause, spine and hips for pelvic specialist, mindfulness, as well as sexual medicine for the transgender patient. These courses allow for in-depth exploration of specific topics and should appeal to anyone in clinical practice who cares for people with sexual health complaints.
ISSWSH also includes Lunch & Learns in the program, and this year the topics include slut shaming and the trusted healthcare provider: A mini-SAR experience addressing barriers to inclusive and sex-positive care, and the business of sexual medicine – starting and growing your practice!
